研究发现，目前出现了一个比奥密克戎传染性更强也更危险的新变种，这种病毒被命名为奥密克戎BA.2亚型变异株。
根据日本东京大学的最新研究结果，和当前流行的新冠病毒奥密克戎BA.1相比，BA.2亚型变异株不仅传播速度更快，还有可能引发重症，并且似乎能够免疫我们用于对抗新冠的一些关键手段。
目前很多国家已经报告了BA.2变异病毒的病例，据世界卫生组织统计，BA.2的传染性比当下的BA.1高约30%，目前全球74个国家以及美国47个州已发现感染病例。
华盛顿大学医学院病毒学家Deborah Fuller表示，尽管BA.2似乎比奥密克戎具有更强的传染性和致病性，但它大概率不会导致更为严重的新冠感染浪潮的出现。
她提出，我们仍在与病毒赛跑，现在还不是能够摘下口罩的时候。
